Hi

I've just installed under-cabinet fluorescent kitchen lighting that can be switched on/off from a 2 Gang 2 Way Rocker switch that also operates the main ceiling light. However – I can’t turn on the cabinet lights only, without having to switch the main light on.

I would be very grateful if someone could suggest why this is and how I could change this so I could switch just the kitchen lights on only.

Many thanks

A

You have supplied from the cabinet lights from the switched side of the celining light switch

presume you have a link between the two gangs of the switches?

Basically you should have phase coming into common on of the gangs, L1 will then feed ceiling light as switched phase

Link the common to the common on the other gang, then take the L1 of this gang as the switched phase for the cabinet lights.

job done, if you HAVENT got a link there, post bak with how you have wired the cabinet lights from scratch, and i will talk you through it, no probs
