Is the any reason why you shouldnt fit a two gang switch, one wired as standard (switched live with 2T&E), and the second switch looped with the L-N passing through the switch (neutral in a wago). This second circuit is to power 5a sockets.

Would it be preferable to take a permanent live into a JB, and then run the switch cable up to the switch in the usual manner

Can't think why not. Just make sure the relevant colour sleeving is on the cores to identify them as live neutral etc.

You could always replace your switch drop (if possible) with 3C&E and use the extra core as a neutral (Brown = switch feed, Black (sleeved brown) = switch return, Grey (sleeved blue) = neutral) with commons linked in switches. Then off in T&E to your 5 amp socket(s).

This would mean only having 2 cables at the switch instead of 3.

Or just loop in at the switches and run SW/N cables out to lighting points.
I normally find that's the best thing to do when you have the likes of four and six gang switches in kitchen for the likes of ceiling downlights, plinth lights, pelmet lights, island lights and all other manner of lights!
