Have you tested the circuits in question? Have you visually inspected all terminations including upstream? I'd start with those.

Checked all terminations at CU and on shower circuit. Voltage drop at cu is 10V. I also noticed when the ring main was turned on that the lights dimmed, but not as much as when the shower is turned on

pedal faster when shower is used.

Check voltage is within statutory (253 - 216) volts with the shower turned on. Check all up stream terminatations, check for signs of buring. If the connections are ok and still outside the limits, phone the DNO, on a back of an envlope calculation 300 watts are being lost in that resistance. If this is a new problem phone the DNO.

Also if it's one of those ridiculous 10.5 -10.8kW showers I'd say it's perfectly normal to notice the lights dimming slightly when it fires up.

How old is the house? Loose neutral in joint box under pavement maybe. Daz

sudden unrush of current from an electric shower can cause sudden dip of lights. The same with all heavy loads such as a kettle.

Hope this helps.

But shouldn't be a massive dip unless there is a loose connection somewhere in the supply. Daz
