It is , when they get the usage down they just put the energy prices up.
It takes what it takes to heat an area depending on the construction and insulation.
The standing charges are a joke too.

EU directive on reducing heaters to the power of a candle to save energy. they won't provide overcoats though.

ah ha

So that's like limiting the power of vacuums .......... so cleaning will take longer

So thats like limiting the power of kettles ............... so boiling water will take longer

So no power saving ...............................

Anyone think the EU come up with these, to be quite frank, daft ideas, just to keep themselves busy ............

That's ever so slightly misleading........

If we want to sell products to the "other" 6.5 billion people, such products won't have to comply.
Yes, but we would also be able to sell the items that do comply with the rest of the world.
So manufacturer’s can either produce one model that can be sold anywhere, or two.
One that can be sold anywhere and one that can only be sold outside of the EU.

As we want to trade with the EU after we leave, whatever we want to sell, will have to comply with EU Regulations.
and the reverse is also true.we should have a UK regulation that vans don't rot away in 10 years. that'd upset mercedes.

I have noticed lately, its finally being brought home to so many politicians and people that fantasy and reality are very different despite promises they are not

Its starting to become a " I told you so" smug feeling watching the debacle that is the negotiations to leave and what it actually will mean when we do leave the comfort of the EU;)

Yes ......... then its a commercial decision for the manufacturer ......

There is nothing saying that ALL products, for sale around the world would need to meet EU standards.

The UK used to be really good at "badge" engineering so its not too difficult to produce slight variants of products....

like the austin metro, MG metro, both a pile of jonk?

It doesn't sound much different to making a car with the steering wheel on the other side so they can sell it to a different market, or selling electrical appliances with a voltage switch (which is often just for show).

I heard a report that there were plans to reintroduce the sale of champagne in pint sized bottles, which the French are more than happy to produce exclusively for the UK market.

If producing more than one variant to open up new markets is financially viable, I don't see why manufacturers would not want to.

Cut back spending on science , then make DUMB scientific decisions .
...Good saving to be had with modern refrigeration ..
( heat recovery -may work ...so long as sewers don't
run too cool !)
Do we have no real engineers ?

LOT 20

That means for us that the heaters we make have to have an electronic switch rather than a mechanical switch, a 2kw heater is still a 2kw heater.

It also means that for one particular range we no longer sell wall brackets with it. It now only comes with feet. This makes it a portable appliance and LOT 20 doesn't apply.

We also spent hundreds of thousands to change tooling and testing to conform with this.
