Metrel Instaltest 61557 Results Download Software

Hi All

I'm new to this site and just starting my electricians course. I've aquired a Metrel Instaltest 61557 meter and when I tried to install the software on my computer to download the results from the meter, it would not install. The software is designed for 32 bit machines and mine is a Windows 7 64 bit system. Has anyone come across this problem and resolved it? or Does anyone know of a third party software that would work? I've spoken to Metrel but the response was that they did not have software available to run on windows 7 for the Instaltest meter.

Hi, I have resolved the problem. I installed the software on a friends 32 bit computer, then saved the program from his computer to a data stick and then installed it on my 64 bit laptop, now why could Metrel Support not suggest this!!!

Are you sure it's working? IE have you transfered any data, it depends on the interface to the meter, if there are any drivers involved they will need to be 64 bit as well (which you won't get just by copying the install directory).

Thats the next stage, I do not have the rs232 cable and do not know if it is a standard cable or special, am waiting for a response from Metrel re cable/pin configuration, then I plan to use a usb converter as both my laptops only have usb ports. I'll post my efforts once I've tried it.

It it's rs232c then probably won't have any driver software as it's just plain old serial protocol, so you'll probably be ok (if it was USB then may have been a prob).
