Discuss Millenium academy in Barking can be trust? Coz i cant find reviews in the Electrician Courses : Electrical Quals area at ElectriciansForums.net

Okay I've just spent 30 minutes rummaging around the recesses of the internet and..........nothing. When I say nothing, I mean nothing. Apart from some very basic company registration info and their own website there's absolutely zilch.

Out of several hundred trainees registered with this forum not even one of them is doing a course of has done a course with Millennium Academy. No one's ever even made an enquiry about them.

I checked Twitter....nothing
Facebook.....nothing
LinkedIn.....nothing
There's not a single mention of them by anyone anywhere that I could find that wasn't related to their own website. That said there's no bad info or complaints posted about them either. Very strange if you ask me considering the number of course they list as available. Surely someone would have posted a worry about exams coming up or a celebratory post about passing a course or some kinda mention of their experiences, even a staff member with their name in employment info on linkedin...but no, not one.

I'd strongly advise some more due dilligance before you hand over 3 grand. I'd suggest actually taking a train and visiting the place to start with, speak to some staff and students face to face, mano to mano and all that. Please pop back here and let us know what you find out, I'm interested and it might help others in future.

I just did some more digging around their website seeing as there's nowhere else to dig. I see they do some kinda student loan which I can't quite decypher how it works.

They lend you money but your repayments are based on your earnings and not on the amount you borrowed. The interest on the loan is also variable and is calculated on your income, not on the loan amount. I don't get how this could be legal TBH. I've attached the factsheet below, maybe someone from the UK can make head or tail of how it works....

that's a UK government student loan, where you only pay back once you are in employment and earning a min. amount.the government introduced these loans for all students some years ago when they scrapped student grants.

Sorry to bring this back but does anyone have some more info/experience about this? I think @telectrix is right about the loan but I don't know if I should sign up or get the money and do the course somewhere else. Thank you!

Rather than use them why don't you use barking and Dagenham college? Roughly same in price but it's a reputable college? Or even Havering College in Hornchurch?

In short, at Millenium can start without having money or good bank credit (through Advanced Learner Loan program, I think). I don't know to much, a friend of a friend is doing the course in weekends for about a year, without paying anything at the moment - that's why the interest, but i don't have details. People go to places like that because they are uninformed and forums like this are gold mines, a quick advice can make big difference.
Now that you gave me some options I'll check them, thank you! ;)

Haven't looked into this at all but am aware that there have been some complex frauds committed around student loans so as above, conduct good due diligence before throwing money away.

i thought it was a dog training school. woof, woof.

Re the loans. This may be a standard government initiative that could apply to any approved course provider so check out the student loan system independently. Their web site suggests they are well established at several locations in the U.K. Visit a site, check it out and speak to current students to get a view to see if it fits with your requirements.
