Hi All

When renewing an existing shower circuit, will the test cert be a minor works as it is an existing circuit or an electrical installation cetificate.

thanks

I would think it would be a minor works as a eic is for new circuits

Aslong as you are not putting new cable in and ate useing the existing cable if your useing new cable that that is a new circuit so you would need a eic

still debateable. if any of the existing circuit remains, then it is an altered circuit and a MWC will do.

If the work goes back to the CU, then it is an Electrical Installation Certificate, even if the work is like for like, because you have installed a new circuit. It is clearly stated somewhere in GN3.

Cheers.............Howard

Surely it depends on why the existing cable has been replaced. If it has been damage by rodents say, and replaced like for like then a MWC would suffice. If it was replaced because a larger kw shower is installed, then the characteristics of the circuit would have changed, i.e. larger protective device, then an EIC would have to be completed.

I agree Midwest. If shower is the same and mcb at ccu is the same, a mwc would do, but no harm in an eic to cover all bases, and might get a bit of extra work from it as a result.
