Got this email today so thought I'd let everyone know incase anyone has fitted one recently

Dear Customer,

We have identified an issue with the manufacture of a limited number of MK Sentry 100A Switch Disconnectors that could fail and overheat, presenting a potential fire risk.

We became aware of the potential issue following a warranty return and extensive internal testing on an MK Sentry Switch. We are not aware of any safety incidents with our products in the field and we have not seen an increased warranty return rate. However, as a responsible manufacturer we are issuing this Product Safety Communication.

We have been liaising with Screwfix and identified that the products on the Affected Products List , are the only products that might be affected in their business and furthermore that it only affects supplies of those products delivered to them between 1st October 2012 and 26th January 2013. As a result, Screwfix have provided us with the names and addresses of all their customers who have purchased any of the affected products between 1st October and 19th April 2013 and you are one of those customers. We assure you that your address details shall only be used for the purposes of this Product Safety Communication.

Please note that it is only certain batches of products that are affected and these batch numbers are identifiable to our trained staff. Therefore we would ask for your co operation (whether you are a homeowner or an installer), by contacting the Exchange Helpline on 0800 028 1117 which is manned between 7.30am and 8.30pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, visit www.switchexchange.co.uk.

If you are an installer and have fitted any of these products for your customers between 1st October 2012 and 19th April 2013 in the course of your own business, you are under a legal duty to bring this letter and notice to their attention and advise them to contact the Exchange Helpline number on 0800 028 1117 which is manned between 7.30am and 8.30pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, visit www.switchexchange.co.uk.

MK Electric will then arrange for an inspection of the unit to be carried out and for affected switches to be replaced free of charge.

All stock held and dispatched from Screwfix since 19th April has been quality checked by MK and approved for sale and use.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your co-operation.
