Hi folks, Need to test someone's brain, I feel. I've been asked today to test and certificate a new mobile library vehicle.

I don't know too much about the job yet as I've not seen it, but have been told that it involves 230v for supplying socket outlets for pc's and will incorporate a generator.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of a suitable test certificate to employ and, obviously, the earthing situation would bring up a few questions. On the other hand, these types of installation do exist, I'm sure.

If anybody could shed some light on the situation, I would be much obliged.

The rules are in the BGB under Special Locations - look for mobile installations. Should be able to use the EICR form with a few added explanations and, if necessary, a supplementary sheet. The test certificates we have that come from the Regs are models - no reason you can't design your own to cover a particular situation, as long as it's clear what it's all about.

Thanks for the reply, pj. I was looking down your suggested view and am thinking along the 'IT system' route, with some sort of insulation monitoring device. I'll have to look into that. Not enough info yet, so just putting the feelers out.
