Discuss MW cert on a spurred circuit in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

I have extended a ring circuit into 3 new conservatories and in each a switch spur has been used to supply the lights
Now my question is would you issue a MW cert for the ring circuit plus individual MW Certs for each spurred lighting circuit stating the 3A fuse as the main OCP device or just one MW cert for the ring circuit with notes on the 3 spurred circuits which is what I usually do
Any thoughts appreciated

Well mate I agree with your idea, after all you have only altered one circuit.

I would just issue one cert for the one circuit you have altered, obviously test it all and put the relevant highest readings down and so on, but no, you don't need to go over board. Admitedly I have issued two certs for the same circuit before, for what its worth I do sometimes. For example, spur of a plug on the ring for outside light, i treat that as one job, then say something else similar on the same circuit, sometimes the customer likes to see a cert for each as they see it as two jobs, for the sake of paying £1 for the cert, I think its worth it as the customer is happier.

I would say that it is the wrong thing to do, given that on each occasion you are certifying that the work on the circuit complies and has not impaired the safety of the installation. Therefore there should only be one certificate for the certificate - just mention in the description of the works both jobs.

I totally appreciate what you are saying and fully understand what a cert covers etc, but occasionally, and I men occasionally I will issue a couple as sometimes it just fits the bill and the customer.

I always add it on the bill by the way,

Yes niceic online.
