Need Some Advice / Guidance

Has anyone noticed the rather random arrangement by which the MIG welder gets its feed? There are 3 single phase meters. One feeds the SP+N C/U, the other two feed the spot welder switchfuse directly (which has no N or 3rd phase, so I suspect the spot welder is single-phase 4ooV, run between two lines. Then those two lines loop out as the blue cables in flex conduit up to the 3-phase MIG welder switchfuse which gets its other phase from the SP+N CU. If any of these three are after the main switch in either the CU or the S.W. SF, then part of the installation will remain live when its main switch is turned off. Hopefully they are before, in which case they are extensions of the meter tails, so probably still a bit naughty.

And yes, there seems to be a lack of green-and-yellow!

Yes, naughty indeed. I think I might be contacting Mr Pryde, the NIC approved contractor.
Not much pride in his work, by the looks.
Is the neutral looped between meters 1 and 3?

I'm afraid the Arms is only available to professional sparkies who've been regular contributors to the forum. You can post the test documents here for discussion, I don't see why there might be any right to privacy issues with such documents.

more like usual plumbers . get in everywhere they should not, like shoving their nasty pipes in the holes that we've spent all day drilling for cables.

Sparks are coming in end of this week or start of next to finish up

It is perfectly acceptable for the armour of a swa cable and metal containment such as steel conduit and trunking to be used as an earth providing its continuity is satisfactory. The swa cable should be fitted with "banjos" though.

Im guessing when they installed the Crabtree board which was probably a replacement for an actual metal DB they somehow neglected to connect the conduits to the MET of the consumer unit

There’s a soloution for that cut them out and put a stop end on just before the joiner boards over whatch their face when they can’t understand how something’s not working

Nice neat bit of conduit in the middle pic there very impressive in the bottom pic did you flare the end and do an internal thread to accept the bush or was it a prefab bend ?

Pre fab bend tried bending it but after tapping the bend took up too much length (not tight enough)

I did think that although believe it or not I’ve never seen a prefab bend I’m too tight to buy one

It does make a tidy install having no coupler on the end.

Rather than bothering with the conduit bend, would it have been neater by using a coupler and a couple brass bushed coming out of the botomof the switch into the top of the socket outlet?
