Discuss Negotiations going as expected.... in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

I don't see how walking away from the negotiations will do any good. Leaving aside the childish quotes like 'they don't like it up them' or 'take the soft gloves off' whats the point?
We will be leaving the EU in March 2019 agreement or not. A good compromise agreement between both sides will greatly benefit both the UK and the EU, what would you think if the EU walked away from negotiations? or more to the point what do you think the Express or Mail would splash across the front page.
I don't see how we can have anything other a very hard brexit and it will be bad for the UK, but there you go, that's what was voted for. But if we do not finalize our contractual obligations it will make it very dificult to do deals with other countries when we're out.

Oh! and I put 'Let's fund our NHS instead' into Google translate and it does come up with 'decide where we spend the money' So it seems I was wrong. I do feel silly.
Nobody is suggesting that we walk away without doing all we can, but there will come a point where continuing is futile. The problem we are currently facing, is that the EU negotiators are only concerned with punishing us, and until they either change their attitude, or are forced to, we will ALL get nowhere. If one party involved in a discussion insists on being intransigent and stubborn, what can you do? The point of my post was to suggest that there may be some hope in the fact that the people who REALLY count in Europe will pressurise the so called leaders into becoming reasonable. The EU, by adopting their current stance, ARE effectively walking away, because surely they are not so stupid to not realise the outcome of just insisting we pay a huge bill first and then talk afterwards, who the hell would do that?? As I said, it is no more than I expected from the pillocks, lets just hope they are replaced soon. And I would like to add that I don't think me and Tel are being childish at all, merely drawing attention to the fact that some people on the remain side need to get a bit more faith in this country and it's ability to exist without these EU dreamers. Who bailed these people out in the first place??

can't understand what all this negotiation is about. we could have joined the nazis in 1940. we opted out. so let's just opt out again. no deal, just unconditional surrender from them eu pillocks as in 1945. sorted. scouser style.
