Had a go installing one of those new proper metal boards.
Contactum defender version 1.0
Disappointed a lot. Heavy metal fuse cover no way to hold it up when you work on it. Lid closing holes dont align with the threads behind properly, plus the bolts are located in a very very wrong place, no way to put them in without magnetic screwdriver or messing up with pliers. Proper pain in the back to properly close the lid after working on it.
And one RCD not working properly , does not trip at all , test button does not work too.

I liked their old style metal boards, no problems, but the new one is not good at all.
Sent them an email with all concerns...
Hopefully will be fixed with version 1.1...

I know what you mean. I was disappointed with the Hager boards. Emailed them too, but never heard anything back :(

I'd imagine most people would use hole saws.

I've fitted one and was quite happy with it, loads of room for rcbos.
Was that a Design 10? Because the cable clamp on the Design 30 stops you fitting an RCBO next to the main switch. So on a THTC heating board you would theoretically loose 3 ways, but Hager on supply a clamp on 1 main switch and not the other 2. I guess they sussed the problem.

Not sure, it never had the clamp, so plenty of space beside main switch.

about £56 i think, plus the dreaded. so a populated 10 way runs out about £300 and a bit with RCBOs and maybe £150 with 2 RCDs and MCBs.
