I was trying to replace a broken built in oven which was a hardwired 13amp cooker which was on its own circuit along with a hob (32amp RCBO). The replacement oven was also a 13amp cooker but i have been told i would not be able to replace it with a 13amp oven now and that it would have to be fitted with a plug and then a plug socket would have to be installed as regulations have changed.

Is this true? If a hob and oven are on the same circuit then what amp oven could be hardwired?

So where did you plug the original cooker, who told about the new regulation?, some teenager in Currys

The original cooker is hardwired behind with a connection unit and is then connected to an isolator switch above the hobs.
I was told this by a white goods installer. He said 13amp cookers could no longer be hardwired. Why i don't know. If both cookers are 13 amps could they not be swapped like for like

Then your best bet is to get the services of a local Electrician, might cost a bit over the festive season

Has the new oven got a plug on it and can you show a pic of the existing connection.
White goods installer that is a new one.
