Daveyboy

looking to get a new megger. only do domestic. was looking at getting the mft1710. Looks a very good price. Do you guys think its worth paying more for the 1720 or 1730? & why?

Got the 1720 brilliant meter worth paying extra for auto RCD testing witch is not available on 1710

It is Dave, its the new 1700 series. I bought my megger 1553 just before news broke of the new one. I love it anyway. No auto RCD could be a pain in the aristotle.

knew youd come round, just took a little persuation.

now it takes 8 AAs and they only last a week

only joking:)

Hi, first poster here. I am looking at the new 1720 because it has the auto RCD test. I have one question; does in store the results whilst auto testing to save keep running up and down those stairs to record each one? Thanks. :)

If its like the 1552 and 1553 models then yes it will and you can scroll through each result after testing

I can't see the point of buying a tester without autorcd. Has anyone done any serious loop testing with the new Megger yet I am very nervous of 2 wire low current testing I know things move on but they used to have it on some of there older testers and it wasn't great. I'm gonna hold back and wait for a few more guinea pigs first!!

Yep I bought the 1553 because I thought I may need the bluetooth option O boy was I wrong i should have got a 1552 Mind as I have said in a previous post I think the megger case is mince so I have ordered a Fluke case for £28.

Yes people will say there goes one of those Fluke snobs but who cares

i have the 1553 and its a top piece of kit, i have alot of confidence in it. The 1700 series do look good though, i must say. check out u tube to see if it has any demo videos on the 1700 series?! it has some for the 1552 / 3 on their.

there is one but its done by Megger! Nope I'll be waiting til theres more feedback never be the first to buy something that's just been launched.
