hi tool tarts

my fatmax Xl tape measure snapped today absolutely gutted - it only lasted 8 years of daily use!

Anyone recommend me a good one?

I’d like to get an all metric one this time,
and must have good stand out, think my fatmax could do 3m

Cheers

Sam

I ws looking at getting one of these but haven't succumbed yet,

Stanley FatMax Auto-Lock Tape Measure 8m - https://www.NoLinkingToThis/p/stanley-fatmax-auto-lock-tape-measure-8m/9999k

I've got a Stanley I've had for sometime (3-4 years), seems to be quite robust.
Someone had left it in a large panel board, as it wasn't one of our guys and we'd had the site for 3 years I claimed it.

Stanley do a twin pack two 8m tapes for £10 at screwfix. I normally just ask a skint electrical apprentice if he wants the other for £5. I've given old tools to apprentices hacksaws, terminal drivers etc they used to get a £200 voucher for tools not anymore.

Best tool I bought was a pvc drylining box marker with the level on the top for marking out boxes for a fiver.. 1 or 2 gang.

It's funny the amount of older sparks who dont know what it is one lad saw me using mine last year grabbed it just grinned at me an walked off asked me to get him one lol.

house bashing these are a must have, shame the springs arent long enough usually though, that little "half box" that makes up the double socket cutout size is ideal for spacing between boxes too
