Hello there,
I have recently arrived in london from New Zealand where i'm a fully qualified and registered electrician mostly working on large scale commercial building sites.
I have looked around for work on job sites and have found that they all require a CSCS, JIB or ECS card to get onsite to work. Upon further research i found that CSCS and JIB redirected me to the ECS website. Here i found that i have to sit a health and safety exam plus The 17th edition wiring regulation exam to get the ECS card. I have no problem with this as it is the same in New Zealand BUT it will take up to a month or two for me to study, sit the 17th edition exam and apply for the ECS card before i can work.
Is there any other way to start work onsite as a electrician, improver or mate. or is there another card that will entitle me to work after doing the health and safety course.
Any advisor is appreciated
Cheers
