hey guys, just moved to london from new zealand. im a qualified electricain back home and was wondering what the best way to find work here is. ive emailed afew companies in the area im gona be living in....or should a talk to an agency? and if so whats a good one?

thanks

You'll need to get the 17th edition qual under your belt at the very least mate. All agencies are blood sucking parasites.
In your position I'd run away, very fast.
Which area are you in? You could try every contractor in your area, paper the place with your CV. It's probably the only way if truth be known.
Good luck

Kingston upon thames area, could work more central if need be. ive noticed alot of commercial work going on in london, so there must be work out there

PM me. Have you any experience of major lighting installs, using Canalis Power trunking, CDM-T fittings as well as BMS interfacing?

yup up plenty out there mate, it's all pretty much agency controlled now so get your c.v emailed around them all, same with the contractors in your area and go from there, commercial works going to the dogs now a lot of its plug and play wiring systems and everything's ran like shop fits so your expected to throw everything in, leave pride in your work at home it helps

update: ive been offered work with a company in london, they will so me how it works here and get up to speed. ive also been offered work with an agency in central london doing commercial maintenance, they say its temp work but will lead to a permanent job....

any thoughts?

Try and get work direct with a company you'll be better off. Agencies will lie to you and charge you to get your wages, don't believe anything they say. If they tell you 2months work expect 2 weeks work.
