Hi i'm new on here and thought i'd introduce myself. Have been working as an Aircraft engineer all my life and fancied a complete career change, bought on mainly because the company is shutting our site down at the end of the year! Always had an interest in domestic electrics and decided to get myself trained to a level where i was competent to go out and do some work for others.
Signed up to a series of courses with Trade Skills 4 U in Crawley, found them very informative and have since passed all the exams (17th Edition, Part P etc etc) Have the final Inspection and testing course to still do and then probably 2391 Inspection & Testing on top.
Plan to get some experience with a local electrician before setting a small business up to run (hopefully) alongside another Engineering job in the short term, but long term to make it the sole career. Any advice would be welcome.

good luck with it. it can be hard but rewarding stick around.plenty advice here.

Welcome along - can’t read enough theory to be prepared and the hints and tips on how to do certain things is invaluable.

Welcome Gary, it seems we are swapping places, I'm currently doing my Part-66 A license at the minute to become an aircraft engineer and plan to do the B1 and B2 eventually. You should find doing electrical work quite easy as the quality standard I have seen thus far in the hangar is much higher than the quality of electrical work people put out.
