Thought I would sign up to the forum for the giving and receiving of advice and help

Been running an electrical business now for 12 years, heavily focused on PAT testing early on for the repeat custom. Currently up to 22 full time employed staff. We now have a huge base for commercial work which is coming in thick and fast since we got out approved contractor sorted out.

I have a couple of questions that other might have experienced

1) Do I
a) train in house for staff to become electricians OVER
b) take on already qualified/experienced?

any tips here would be great

2) Quoting for electrical jobs
Any good software/spreadsheets out there for putting these together. I have seen a number of online ones that have a free trial period but then you have to input loads of data - not specific to electricians, its generic to all trades.

3) Asking for money up front before starting jobs? Do people do it and do customers accept it?

Thanks anyone/everyone

Peter
