Hi guy's
Just joined the forum, I'm putting myself through college on a night after work and just passed my C&G L3. I'm going to do the regs but going to have to wait until the 18th edition comes out and then after that I'm doing inspection and testing. Any advice on what is best to do after that? Is doing my NVQ 3 and AM2 the best path to take? I've been in the game for about 4 years now so I have a little experience. Any advice most welcome. Thanks

The NVQ3 is needed for an electrician grade JIB gold card, if you get the 2391 aswell you get approved grade.
The NVQ3 portfolio takes about (average) 1 year, and the AM2 completes it. So yeah I would say the next step is the NVQ3.

what he said ^^^^^.

Thanks for the advice, do you know when the 18th will be out? It's just my college have said that I can't do the inspection and testing course until I've done the reg's. So until it comes out I'm left waiting. I've started gathering evidence for my NVQ 3

18th is out 2018. generally editions come on jan.1st.

I could be wrong but I don't believe but is a requirement to have the C&G2382 (17th) to do the 2391 testing and inspection. You should obviously have a thorough understanding of BS7671 17th edition incorporating amendment 3, but if you feel you are competent then perhaps try another college or training provider as it sounds like this college are fishing for extra money, unless your lecturer genuinely feels that you need help to pass probably the easiest exam in the world after the ECS heath and safety test!
It isn't a requirement to have the 2382 to get a gold JIB card as long as your qualifications are to current regulations.

I don't think you can do your 2391 without your level 3 all sorted first? And then I think they say to have a year off before doing 2391
I will look into that, my college lecture said I will have to do 2365 then reg's then I can do 2391. He didn't mention anything about a year off.
