Discuss Next project, my own house in the Electricians Chat - Off Topic Chat area at ElectriciansForums.net

I like the design form and layout, one thing that will apply heavily is the Party Wall Act. You need to get a party wall agent to keep all parties happy, this where you will find out how difficult your neighbours are.

With large openings such as those you will need to do SAP calcs and reach the desired U Values set out in Building Regs. Looks like a fun project and I hope you enjoy the process, just be aware any unforeseen problems can be costly.
All should be fine lots of the same square box extensions in the area with large amounts of glass, party wall should be fine and I will not be removing any chimney breasts.

Disappointing, not having the cinema room, not the ---- thing. Good job for Page, you don't live next door.
House is not large enough, will have a separate room with a TV in though, nothing like the girlfriends mates though as his screen 15ft wide.

He'll get eye strain, if he's anything like you. :)
Only looking at the the 6 zeros after the 16, and any ways I have a real good looking girlfriend so don't need to look at Pornhub on a mobile phone whilst in the toilet like some of you ;o)))))

Terraced house so its an up an over for the scaffold, this is an easier build but more costly then the last one that I did, now that one was a bitch.
You had many quotes on the scaffold? I know someone who recently paid 13K for a tin hat scaffold....I had mine done as a favour and just covered the lads wages.

Our neighbours insisted on having a separate surveyor.... what they didn't realise was that our surveyor had to accompany their surveyor (whose bill we had to pay)

and if the 2 surveyors don't agree, yes you guessed it, you have to pay for a 3rd ......................

The Party wall act applies to detached buildings too - it all depends on the depth of the foundations ...............

Needless to say we send 1 less Christmas card now!

Not at that stage yet, measured survey was done in 2016 as the cost was off set against something else, now awaiting architects drawings then will apply for planning then the job gets put out to tender, not Tinder or Gaydar so don't all get too excited okay.

Think this cost me £8400 for the last build as I also needed licences as it was on the street.

Not a bad price that....were in the wrong game I think. Every scaffold firm owner I know is rolling in it.

if you get a tender from a firm called Carillion, bin it.

Nope, may fit a projector and hang a sheet in the garden to project ---- on to though.
To be honest I did get rat arsed with a few friends a good few years back and had a "borrowed" projector from work, we did project a ---- movie on to a block of flats opposite to mine which was adjacent to the A40 as it comes off the elevated section towards Acton, really surprised no one had an accident or car crash.........
