Discuss "nice" car charger install - not in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

that is damn right ---- poor. I have been called to put right installs where supposedly specialist ev charger install firms have done a bodge job.
as for the enclosure and mixed makes, should have just bought some bits direct from rolec who are very cheap but not bad. or used chint, they make the rolec stuff and its cross compatible.
@Murdoch what make of ev charger was installed? as most have the rcd at the charger and if installed correctly with right cable then rcd protection of the supply cable is not needed. can fit a type s if you want to add protection in a small enclosure.

These "Specialist" companies are a right can of worms. Seen some crackers from them.

Still laugh a one I was sent to put right.

6mm supply for ASHP fed through the drilled frame of a uPVC window.

Can't for the life of me believe that anyone can walk away from that thinking it's a job well done.

Don't know and didn't really look at it anymore TBH

I was testing the main boards RCD so as the MFT did its stuff, I saw this!

Maybe the installer was trying to work with what was "on the van" haha. Maybe he measured PFC, looked at the current curve of the suppliers fuse and decided to omit overload protection of the 2.5/1.5 6242 and apply 433.3.1 (ii) here as the load was determined?? Do you think that's what happened? Lol

think it'sfar more likely that the installer was a retrained meter monkey trying to advance his expertise by doing a 1 day course on EVC. either that or he's a complete knob-head.
