Came across this today and thought it might raise a few smiles . How rough can someone be ! They had wired a new ring main right around the house exterior, diving in and out to each socket !!!! Rough as a badgers arse !

Wasn't a VM tech by any chance

I've seen this done before, though at least it was installed in conduit.
I asked the owner of the property why it had been done this way? It turned out that they had recently had the house decorated and in one room the wall paper cost £120 per mtr2. Then they had an inspection and test a few months later only to find out the house desperately needed re-wiring. Sometimes people don't realise and make this mistake, I've seen it happen quite a lot.

Yikes!
(wallpaper cost that is ...)
Yes it was a very blingy black & silver affair, with a soft velvet texture. I couldn't believe it either, but I got talking to the decorator who was back doing some more work and he confirmed the cost. Though he did admit he had hiked up the installation price more than normal cause he was worried about covering damage costs if he made a mistake.
