I am looking at a receiver/amplifier that was manufactured in the mid 1970s. It has a very solid all metal case. It is powered by a mains lead that has only two conductors, active and neutral. It does not have any Class II notation or symbol anywhere on the case. I am wondering whether the mid 70s might have been a time when double insulated appliances were manufactured prior to Class II standards and notation requirements. The appliance in question is an Aiwa AX-7500.

I can see pictures of AX-7500s both with and without a double-insulated symbol above and to the right of the mains lead entry, along with some approvals, e.g. стерео ресивер aiwa-AX-7500 | Винтажная аппаратура (выпуска до 1990 года) | Объявления Hi-Fi.ru - http://www.hi-fi.ru/auction/detail/977447 does not have it. I don't know why this should be, perhaps the ones without were destined for outside Europe where the approvals weren't valid? They are all probably built to the same standard. Does yours have a sheathed mains cable with brown and blue cores? Versions for UL approval areas might have had figure-8 cables and no double-insulated symbol.

Thank you for the replies. The photo with the Class II symbol gives me hope that my receiver complies even though it is without that symbol. The power lead on my unit is one blue and one brown cable enclosed in an outer plastic sheath.
