Old fogy trying to stay young(ger)

Hi all, been on here for a few weeks, now retired, but like to keep in with electricals. Sad really! Served my time with South Wales Electricity Board, I think on 14th edition IEE regs. Did 10 years house bashing, then moved North and Joined Norweb, various jobs appliance delivery electrician, chauffeured around the Lake District, then Installation Inspector, finishing as Fault Technician. Great days, still miss the good bits! Like I say, nowadays just like to keep up with things and stick my oar in every so often.

It's not sad really , work is a big part of our lives and the people we meet help form our characters and form some of the golden memories and life long friendships.
I am past retiring age now and have had a few serious illnesses.
I had to give up all strenious activities for quite some time and it nearly drove me mad . I still chip away on the love jobs and try to keep my brain active. It is what we are - creatures of nurtured habit.
Take it away and we are like headless chickens.

Thanks all, nice welcome. I started on SWEB in '65, finished '75. Happy days at At St. Mellons and Cardiff! Although I worked on my own mostly, some most jobs entailed meeting people and other workmates, plenty of good crack.

Mine as well trouble is though, the Brain and the body parts don't always share that information, as I found out a couple of weeks ago trying to work like a 21 year old.

It's very strange how although your body ages you still feel a lot younger in your head, as you say. I'll be 69 Monday (just thought I'd drop that in - all donations gratefully accepted), and had 50 years in the industry, and glad to say very few days when I wasn't happy to go to work. Always enjoyed it and felt I was helping people.

I know my limitations when it comes to my body.. Doesn't stop me dancing round the living room with my tee shirt over my head, while my son tells me to "stop it", my daughter tries to tickle my belly and the missus says "you are traumatising the kids..."

traumatising the kids?????she got no idea. traumatising kids takes a lot of skill. very hard if you've not got a coal shed to lock them in. second choice would be a dark, cobwebby attic, but most of them are now extra bedrooms. i suppose you could make them watch Freddie Kruger films. ( didn't work with mine, he loved those films when he was 3.). only thing these days is to confiscate their playstation, mobile phone and ipad. they might then manage to learn to read.
