Hi folks,

I wonder if someone could enlighten me as to whether or not I could install an outdoor double RCD socket and wire it to a a pre existing internal switch?

The switch itself would have been intended to be connected to an outdoor PIR and its in a new build house. The switch is wired with 3 core and earth in brown, grey, black and earth. However I don’t need or want an outdoor PIR and would much rather have the double socket to run power outside.

The rear of the switch has the connection points of COM, L1 & L2.

The RCD double socket has connection terminals for live, neutral and 2 earth connections.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks

No, not a very good move trying to run a 13Amp from a 6 Amp lighting circuit, best move would be contact a competent Electrician to do this work for you.

question number 1: is it a lighting circuit you have there already or is it an fcu of a ring/20 rad
question number 2: is the circuit already on a rcd, if so why are you putting a rcd protected socket in?
if you are unsure on these question then you need to ring a qualified sparkie.

Ring Final Circuit Tin Hat on, flak jacket secured Cobham Armour safely mounted SAS informed to mount a rescue Opp
