Hi All

I have recently qualified as a PAT tester, for doing in house stuff for a building company.

Does anyone know how to PAT test a cement mixer with a magnetic start?

I was told on my training course that you could buy an adaptor for such purposes but I have drawn to a blank where to get such a device.

Any advice would be appriciated.

Many thanks.

HI Duane. No. I was told that you cannont do a test as the switch is magnetic and cannot do a test with a battery operated PAT tester. I have a Metrel Im3311 which runs on batteries? Thanks for your input. :)

Give them a call and ask them where to buy one?

Is your concern that the Metrel only does a substitute leakage test at 30V so neither that nor the IR test reach the motor as the contactor can't be energised? Have you checked whether it is indeed a contactor or a manual NVR, as the latter can be held closed to get the IR & SL tests to the motor? What is your normal procedure for testing loads with functional switching of major internal components, when using a tester that is incapable of energising the controls?
