Discuss Philip Schofield (off the TV) fault finding! in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Most domestic smokes are battery only you will find not hard wired versions, it is amusing watching the video from our perspective but you must remember he is no electrician so doesn't understand the basics, I shook my head at the video for very different reasons than our lass did, she too couldn't understand why it continued to work once the wire was cut... she assumed it worked off external power only not realising it was battery back-up as well.

I agree. I always thought he was a level headed bloke. Just goes to show.
yep....films making a plonker of himself....then goes viral. Just shows how thick some are, even the rich. Although, he's probably got popularity out of it, leading to more cash.
56 thousand likes ffs!

Thinking about it, a well known businessman, I used to do work for, went into his works one weekend because the fire alarm was sounding. He ended up with a hammer, smashing three detectors apart before he had the gumption to smash the sounder to bits......goes to show!....it all leads to work.;)
