A friend of mine's phone broke (started to only ring once before cutting out) he put the upstairs one in same problem he then bought a new one same thing. He phoned bt they said because he called them no problem with the line call an electrician. Nothing has changed electrically in his house. What the hell am I looking for? And he hasn't changed the settings to only ring once it just seems to be a random act of whatever!

start with the basics, is his answerphone on? get BT to ring him back and see if it cuts off after 1 ring.

Has he got one of these multi function printers with a built in fax connected to the phone line and that is grabbing the incoming call

Disconnect everything from master socket and plug directly into the main socket behind the front plate. See what happens and come back to us. Daz
