Hi guys, i brought a new PIR bulkhead from homebase and its got a live an netual and a live 1 and earth. Can i use live 1 for a switch so i can override the light to stay on when the switch is flicked?

Dan

L1 might just be a link for an additional light. Lets have more info.

Its just a cheap energy saving bulkhead. the instruction manual was half a sheet of paper so didnt really help that much.

So the instruction manual makes no mention of this L1 terminal in either text or sketch.

usually L1 will be connected to the L side of the light. if so, it is to feed a 2nd light. if you feed a switched L to this via a switch, it should bring the light on manually. without seeing it, this is just an educated guess, so take the advice with caution. if in doubt, get an electrician in to sort it.

Theres no mention in the instructions however there is a red wire in side does that help?

Call a local spark and you should have that light sorted for less than £30.00

If it's the one i am thinking of, yes the instructions are tat. I fitted one last year that a customer had supplied, very flimsy build and i was back within two months fitting a new one. Same as most cheap PIR's im afraid.
