Am trying to wire outside light. Switch is inside 2 gang 2 way. Fuse trips if I wire switch and permanent feed but is fine if I don't add live wire from switch? However I then can't turn it on and off as such although still works as pir? Any help appreciated. Ta

you need to use your switch as an override. i.e. put the switch across the permanent live and the switched live on the PIR

great thank you but i cant run any more cables?? i have 2 x brown, blue and earths going into back of pir light. one is the feed from last light on the circuit and one goes from switch to light. live neutral and earth connections in the back of the pir light. can i still sort this?

Sounds to me like you are connecting both browns and blues together in the light....when you switch on the overide switch you are effectively causing a dead short.....apologies if I have got this wrong.....if I have got it right I would question your competance to be carrying out electrical work safely.

agree with wirepuller. it's all well and good to do the odd diy job around the house, but if you have not got the right equipment and knowledge to do the job, you should call in an expert. i need a new brain, but think it's better to employ a brain surgeon than try and do it myself with a stanley knife and hacksaw

you only need a permanent live, switched live, n and earth. live into the common and sw live into L1. bell out the wires, as long as you know which core is which you shouldn't have any bother.

Thanks for responses. Is a hacksaw not the best tool to use then? ;-)
