can anyone help? I would like to fit a PIR to my existing patio lights in my garden, but don't really have any idea how to do it!! I have ''Plug & Play'' lights that work through a transformer. The transformer is fitted inside the house. Any advice would be gratefully accepted. Thanks

I havent done one before but my gut feeling is that your pir will need to run off the LV side of transformer (230v side) as i suspect a standard PIR would not function under ELV load (12 or 24v), if this is right you will need to take a 3 core and earth cable from the transformer to the PIR, you will then need some form of joint box,by the transformer. Connect the joint box i in such a way that the live goes straight to pir, and then the switched side of pir connects to transformer live in. You will also need to connect a neutral & earth to PIR. I stand corrected if anyone can tell me a PIR will work off 12 or 24v supply

My advise would be to ring an electrician and get them to do it, any electrics outside must be carried out by a part p registered installer. Not to sound nasty but carry out work you don't understand can kill someone
