Hi All

Anyone ever seen a 33 page PIR, local shop asked to carry out some repairs after a PIR had been done, within a week of PIR the insurance company had increased the shops excess by £2500. The only code 1 was mcb on fan circuit fed by 1.00 cable was 15amp, that was on a urgent repair notice left on day of test, i informed owner i needed to see Cert, after contacting company it was not ready, so i dont how insurance company increased excess without seeing cert, Anyway it was emailed to use and i never such a load rubbish, It was nothing like model in BS 7671 and contained pages of information the shop could not understand, once i worked out what it was all about i noticed that NOT one single test had been done all boxes marked LIM,things like could not test CU2 no power (off peak heating) they could stil have teated R1 R2 and Insulation, on page said they could not test Ze yet on the the next page its listed a 0.2o ohms. The report listed 30 faults 1 x Code 1 5 x Code 2s 1 x Code 3 and 23 Code 4 had things listed that cpc at sockets had incorrect colour coding sleeving was green, installation is 18 years old, also stated testing not done because cable at CU not marked we are talking here of 6 circuits, all in all this amounts to a visual inspection yet took him 7 hours, anyone have any comments as we need to carry out repairs, Select have advised us tell client to conplain to NIC as the company are Nic listed in there opinion the instalation was left in a more dangereous state as fixed wiring was not tested.

think i would get him back and explain first, then contact scheme provider, in the meantime i would recommend a new pir or for the work to be carried out by the original inspector as you think his inspection was not correct.
