Morning comrades.
Is one obliged to change above back boxes for metal lugged versions. Obviously the plate screws won't be earthed but are insulated by plastic lugs. What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.

I would not think so,you get plastic lugs on dryline boxes, just earth the frontplate if its metal.

think you might struggle to get nylon faceplate screws into nylon lugs , nothing wrong with nylon lugs ,they insulate the face plate screws so better in my eyes , I would earth the back box mind , with this type of box there is not normally an earthing point , just a small lug you put the wire in and push it down what I do is to remove the fixing screw and put a ring crimp on the earth and screw it to the back box using the fixing screw

I think these were because until 1966 no earth conductor was installed in the switch drop so the back box would not be earthed the plastic lugs would insulate the screw on the plate from the metal back box Mk normally made these boxes used to see them a lot on council rewires and would normally lug an earth onto the fixing screw and reuse the box
