Discuss Please help - Could water effect a circuit? in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi,

Today I pressure washed our outside pillars which all have light fitting on (all on the same circuit). When switching the power back on, only 1 of the lights is working out of 4.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Has any switch gone off in the distribution board, you know, when a "fuse" goes you go to that box on the wall and push up the switch where it has turned off. Where the lights on at the time? Maybe cold water and hot lights did'nt mix. Is there any smell coming from the lights? Has the bulb gone? Bear in mind they are out in the rain all the time so should be water proof so maybe you did not affect them at all.

The trip switch did go, yes. When I switched it back on only one light came on. :-(
I don't believe any bulbs have gone and there is no smell.
Thanks

Pressure washers are hateful things. All they do is force water where it shouldn't be! No good for cars, bikes or electrics. And when people try to clean their block paving with them it forces all the jointing sand out. And another thing.......

Rant over.

it gets yer bloody feet wet.

More than just your feet. When I'm pressure washing paving I dress up in gumboots and oilskins, and then go and have a shower afterwards to wash the mud out of my hair.
bloody hell. pressure washing on christmas day to coincide with the annual shower. my flabber is gasted.

Great! This may happen sometimes because of water and also may possible that connection may get disturbed or loose while cleaning or washing.
