Hi all,

It’s been a long time (what with career change and all).

We have just started doing domestic ventilation systems testing and I have been caught a little short, I think.

The first system I have been testing is a de-centralised MEV system and I have found out that I need to do a specific fan power calculation. That’s fine but I don’t have a power meter to measure this. Clamp meters are off, as they’re not accurate at low wattages. I need to measure at the Fuaed Connection Unit of each fan but I don’t know what tester to look for.

I don’t think MFTs do the testing of power otherwise I would use that.

Plus, the course as vent axia only showed us how to read it directly off of an MVHR unit. Decentralised MEV doesn’t have this luxury.

Any brands and models I should look at?

Many thanks in advance

Simon

You could try a temp fly lead to your L at the FCU. Then with a decent clamp meter wrap it round 10 times. Divide the result by 10. That should give an average reading that should be good enough for what you need.

Thank you both for your replies.

As it turns out, this is a requirement for Centralised MEV and MVHR systems only and not De-Centralised MEV, which is what I was testing, so therefore I don't currently need to test this! (Phew).

However, I've put the NANOVIP Plus thing on my watchlist on ebay.

Many thanks!
Simon
