Spazz

I went to my local gym yesterday to handout a fyer and some cards, the owner asked how much I would of charged for the install he just had.
Run Down:
2 x 3 Phase DB (33 circuits in total)
15 x floor sockets
10 x wall sockets
1 x 32A socket
10 strip lamps
all cabling

All prep work was done by client - channeling floors & walls.

Room 25ft x 30ft (at most!)

He was charged £12,000 - does this sound reasonable?
He was onsite for 3 weeks, but only 3 days per week (9 days in total)

(I saw the invoice)

He also priced up PAT Testing for £150.00 for only 20 items.
Im doing the PAT now in September for £40-£50 (£2 per Item)

EICR - He quoted £4K. - Im thinking about £600 max

Hes also building an extension for gym in September as well as a new build (domestic) so I think September will be sorted for me - hes already booked the work - deposit coming in August when he gets the ok from Planning.

He got planning by the way - but changed something so waiting for that before starting building!

Possibly all the 3 circuits were RCBOs and thats adds a bit, plus top quality materials etc however even with all this then i still think he made a good £3000 easy profit. (all guesstimates)

I think the biggest problem was this sparky turned up after being told that this person needed a sparky.

No quote was given - start date within 2 days and they cracked on with it - then when the invoice was given £12,000.

He didn't get any other quotes or anything - like I told him its a hard lesson learned!
