just a quick question

quite possibly a question for the NIC however i have been wondering what would stop someone simply copping my certificates and putting different client details on? i have managed to edit PDFs in the past so that wont stop anyone.

essentially what would prevent someone using one of my certificates on multiple jobs privately ?

I keep them sequenced and dated so that I know immediately what went where etc, but unfortunately fraud is always possible.

I use a 3rd party certificate software and I allocate the invoice number as the certificate number....

So fraudulent use would be easy to spot

Are you actually expecting that one of your customers will do this? If so, why?

If you're concerned about people changing the content of documents in PDF format, you can digitally sign the document using Acrobat Reader. You have to setup a digital ID, but for my Minor Works Certs, I generate a PDF from my Excel template, then digitally sign the document using Acrobat Reader. When you sign it, you can select a 'Lock the document' option which then means it cannot be changed.
