Can we carry out the continuity test for the ring final by connecting the line, neutral, and cpc end to end at any socket or do we have to identify and disconnect the conductors at the C/U? I am aksing as i think it is much easier to link the line, neutral, and cpc end to end at any socket rather than C/U.

Many thanks

You could, but can you confirm that the end to end measurements are of the RFC and not parallel paths/interconnections from other circuits?

Tend to find a bit more cable in the CU to work with as well.

Not sure I understand what you mean there Strima?

It's easier to identify ends at a socket than the CU (unless it's a beautiful CU you've just installed yourself of course) and you can be pretty darn sure it's the correct ring.

Well I'm going to myself now never thought of doing it at socket great idea the times I've struggled getting cables out of board specially when there full of rcbos in a 3 phase board great site this always learning new things

If there is some parallel path, e.g. due to CPC bonding somewhere, if you don't disconnect the parallel path, you could obviously end up with too low a CPC end-to-end measurement. Since the CPC connection at the CU / MET is likely to be one end of such a parallel path, not measuring at the CU is perhaps more prone to such an error?

biff 55 how could you take a test for any one . with a face loike that i think that you would stick out like a sore thumb
unless nazoom looks like you
