Hi guys
First post so go easy on me!!

Im trying to put an RCBO into an old MK board. I am gonna double up the lighting as its all on LED bulbs and use the space to add a 40A RCBO which is powering a 2 way in the shed. Now im not sure if i can use the modern RCBO's in this board.

Ive seen this one Space does not seem a problem:

MK Sentry 6937S Single Module RCBO, 40A, 30Ma | eBay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MK-Sentry-6937S-Single-Module-RCBO-40A-30Ma-/201683672920?hash=item2ef5489f58:g:BtcAAOSwMgdXwu6Q

Ive attached a pic of the board

if you're using SWA to feed the shed, why not RCD at the shed? and i hate spaghetti.

New rcbo will fit but I agree with Tel fit rcd at shed. Me personally would not double up circuits, nasty practice. I would suggest upgrading the CU.

If you double up the lights and are later asked to do a EICR it won't look very good.
What about the new ring main with no RCD protection. With price of MK rcbos looks like a new board to me.

It's just an old house. That's what they did in our day. I'm surprised to see the MCBs; very modern!!

The sentry range will be too long but the Hager range of MCBs will fit the old MK boards. Worth a try.

Cheers

Ken

What do you mean that is what they did in our day, the old MEM board looks original but the rest isn't. So we are going from doubling up circuits to fitting non compatible devices. Is it just me ?

Sorry! I was trying to be funny; obviously not.

When It is not practical or economic to rewire the whole house (I'm exaggerating) and a simple solution solves the problem and doesn't break the regulations, then it is justifiable.
