Hi guys,

I need a little advice - have attached photo...

I need to upgrade this fuseboard to Current regulations - customer cannot afford to replace CU with 17th edition split load board. can I move the RCCB to next to the main switch to protect all the circuits? Or can I add another RCCB to make it split load?

She wants cheapest option to bring if up to regulations. Any advice is much appreciated!

You could maybe fit more circuits on to the RCD and fit a couple of rcbo's say for the lights(but they can be expensive) I woul not fit them them all from the one rcd as it is only 63A max load on it and everthing would go off. I wouldn't recommend making it a dual rcd board as there probably would only be one neutal bar. Why does it need bringing up to cuurent regs? I would try and get the sockets rcd protected as a minimum. If no work has been carried out the Rcd issues on lights etc would be a reg change just check that bonding main and suplimentary is carried out. Fit some blanks as well.

that is a starbreaker board, because of the construction of the busbar,i donb't think you can fit a second RCD. you could easily move some MCBs from the unprotected sise onto the RCD, or fit RCBOs.

Why do you need to change the board? Current regs also say tat cate must be given to discrimination (or words to that effect) so one rcd will not be good enough. Put in at least 1 rcbo on one light circuit and move rest of circuits onto the rcd (assuming your diversity calcs say a 63A rcd is ok).
