Rcd protection on adding 1 light

Just a quick one. I have added an LED floodlight off an existing light on an outside wall and the circuit is not rcd protected. Do I need to fit an rcbo on the circuit or not. The cable is clipped direct through a loft space.

quick answer is no. if you look in the regs. it tells you the criteria for fitting RCD protection. good bedtime reading.

You are only applying the latest regs to the part of the installation you are installing so you nead to check if a cliped direct cable requires rcd protection or an outside light requires rcd protection ? I think tel has given you the answer
