I am rewiring a 2 bedroom outhouse which I've been made aware will include a supply to a shed.
I'm told the shed will we used as a work shop using equipment such as rotary grinders, motors, welding equipment and other power tools.
I know welding equipment can produces supply distortion's a I.e. harmonics and motors have high inertia currents therefore I am protecting this circuit with a type D breaker however I am unsure as to what sort of characteristics my Rcd should have to deal with this load type, should I use one with a delayed trip facility or possibly 100mA trip tolerance?

Any help on this is greatly appreciated thanks

An ordinary 30mA RCD of appropriate current rating should be just fine. If it's typical 'small workshop' equipment in good condition you won't have a problem. Consider splitting the loads over more than one RCD if there's going to be more than one item of equipment in use at any one time.
