Hi all,

New to the site and to the trade. My main fuse and consumer unit are located on my dining room wall covered by a unit. I know that if I would like to move the consumer unit to the kitchen (which is over 3m away) I will require a switch fuse. Can I, and if so how do I get the the main fuse moved with it? Regards Gav.

it's the DNO ( your electric supplier will have to move the fuse and meter. can it not be left there and tails to the new CU position.?

Like telectrix says better to leave the "service head" where it is if you can, as they will probably be reluctant to even come and look never mind actually do as you ask. And if you do persuade them, it will cost a small fortune (probably). The other bit is sometimes called a "KMF" and is a double pole switch with an 80A (or less if you want, depends) fuse in it. Click make one. Usually about 20 quid.
