Discuss registering for 2391 inspection and test in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

That is because 2391 has been discontinued, and replaced with two units,2394 and 2395. Loads of info on here regarding said change, have a rummage...

JTL are doing I&T course £750. 6 days, i think. not sure if that's both 2394 and 2395, though. had a mailshot from them yesterday.

The problem I have with th new courses is that I have already passed the 2391 and it seems that the bodies that be are asking me to do it again at cost to me. If I'm not mistaken the reason for the change was to minimise the amount of candidates failing. I know when I did it the pass rate was 48 percent. If this is the case why should I pay again, surely the 2391 hasn't changed that much unlike the regs.( which are continuous in changing).

if you have 2391, then there's no earthly reason for you to spend money on 2394/5.

I'd be asking them for at least 10 extremely good reasons why I would need to take 2364 & 5 when I've got 2391.
Otherwise, they can ram it up their poop chute. (cue Zappa number! :) )

2394 + 2395 = 2391 - the design bit! (That's 2396(I think))
So they're effectively asking for pointless exam as you already have the qual. Tell em to stick it!
If they insist, you then insist they pay it and pay your day rate to attend.

What the NIC expect you to now do 2 courses for essentially the same qualifications as you have already got, think someone has there wires crossed. If they insist then tell them you joining Elecsa or Napit

Absolutely no reason to have to do the new exams if you have the 2391 it's the same except they've just split the new one between condition reporting and initial verification, essentially making it easier because you only have to concentrate on one aspect at a time, (fail one and just concentrate on the one is their atittude)

Have i got the wrong gist,or has a scheme "asked" you to do this? ...cos they only usually require you to "promise-to-think-about" doing it ... If that qualification was a requirement, there would be a LOT less scheme stickers on vans...

i thought it was wrong,so i phoned up leeds college of building who said exactly what you all said.it seems to me they were touting for business on the training side. spoke to niceic again told them exactly what i want i.e just test/inspect of dwellings and suprise, suprise they are sending me the forms.

Then at least everyone has helped to save you some cash and stop them from thinking they can get away with it they must have seen pound signs when you first called

All is well that end well

Thanks for all your help on that one. Now need to know if my 17th edition is in date passed it in Nov 2010. As you can tell I have been preoccupied to use these qualifications.

The reason why I'm asking is because I wish to go into periodic testing of dwellings at weekends with an electrician from work. He's more of the electrician just hasn't got the 2391. You know how it is when your stuck in the same mundane job you strive to do different things.
