Or you could always put a surface mount switch lower down the wall and run the cable down from the existing switch in some mini-trunking, blank off the existing switch point. Take about 10 mins and cost about £2!! Can also be restored aferwards when daughter has grown a bit.
 
I just got a few cheap step ups for wilko for £3 each. Also extended the bathroom pull switchs. 2x daughters switching happily away.

Item number: 330672904776 i got one in my sitting and you can set it up yo use a button off a tv or sky remote that you dont use i use the blue button off the sky remote works perfect.
