Hi there I’m after some advice if possible.
I currently have a non-maintained emergency light fitting wired to an emergency fish tail switch in my home. I am looking to remove these and replace with a normal light fitting.
Whilst I am quite happy to tackle most things I wanted to get some advice on this as I may be better getting someone in if this is out of my ability.
My question is once I have removed the cabling to the emergency switch which is 2 core and earth, what to do next as I assume the emergency battery will kick in permanently as I have broken the connection. Any help appreciated!
Many thanks

Should you be removing emergency lights? They were put there for safety purposes unless you understand the ins and outs of why they are there you may be setting yourself up for all sorts of liability. Best get the experts in I would say. Looks like who ever wired that JB should be sacked and never let near electrics. As above by our learned @telectrix it needs to be urgently sorted out.

Many thanks

The emergency lighting is there as originally a small part of the house was used for business use by the previous owners. This is no longer the case so we wish to take it out. I shall get someone in to take a look and sort it all out. Thanks for your input

The problem is,the person who constructs these abortions seldom realise how very poor and sometimes dangerous are their efforts

It's good to see that you are one of the rare people that understand the dangers and actually pay a qualified person to come and do it rather than fishing for answers and butchering it

That would depend on several factors.
Does Florida require residential homes to have emergency lights?
Are you the owner/manager, or just an annoyed resident/relative?
Is there anything wrong with it?

Just to add that it is sometimes best to start a new thread than it is to jump on a thread that is 4 years old....
