Hi, I have a dimmer that needs replacing. The dimmer has 2 ports, labeled L2 and this: http://i.Upload the image directly to the thread.com/mkVxO.png

I have two red wires connected to those ports and an earth connected to the metal plate in the back of the wall.

The switch I have bought is labled
L3 (Out) L2(Out) L1(Out) L (In)

This instructions, Here (Referring to the 1 Gang Model) is unclear to me which wire goes to the L1 Port and which wire goes to the L Port. Can someone help?

permanent live goes to L, switched live to L1. with a 1 way switch you cant take for granted which core is which. do you have a voltage indicator?

I have one lying around somewhere. I see where you are getting at, I will need to check which one has power coming to it, which will indicate that it is the permanent L. Whereas the one that hasn't indicates that it is connected to the bulb.

yes that sounds about right. just make sure you turn the power off and check you have turned the power off before disconnecting anything.
