Can anyone tell me the situation in the event that one or more of my panels fails (say 10 years down the line) can you use different panels with new serial no's and still get the tarrif ?

Same question if the inverter fails and I need a new one, will the fact its not the one registered with the FIT application affect the payments?

The inverter is not registered, as far as I understand, so no problems there, but the panels are, so if this situation were to arise my advice would be to keep quiet.

Who is going to go up on your roof and check them??

i would say as long as the wattage of the panel is the same and its MCS certified then whats the issue? inverters are not recorded on the MCS cert.

Replies make good sense. I thought I had read that inverters had to be registered and you should be wary of buying used ones off ebay in case they had been registered.

You are right though, my mcs cert just asks for the inverter model.

Secondhand equipment that makes up a 'system' cannot be used for a 'new' installation and get the Feed in Tariff. A system for those purposes has been defined by ofgem as including panels and inverter (not the mounting system or wiring :) )

However the Inverter is not registered as part of thes system for MCS / Feed in Tariff purposes :)

The Inverter make and model (serial number is NOT required) is registered with the DNO as it is the Inverter that is the SSEG. (We work with lots of DNO's and none has ever REQUIRED the serial number to be supplied)
